Erie PONY Cup
The 3rd
Annual PONY Cup: The Finest High School Rugby in
the Tri-State Area!
For the
last
couple of years now, rugby clubs from Pa, Ohio, and NY (PONY) have
traveled to
Erie for this unique High School Rugby event. Held the Sunday after
Easter, the
PONY Cup continues to provide both boys’ and girls' teams with a high
quality,
entertaining day of rugby. In 2006, teams enjoyed the exceptional
weather,
great competition, and great pitches at Fairview’s Pleasant Ridge Park.
We are
expecting nothing less on April 15, 2007, the date of this year’s
tournament.
The PONY
cup
festival format pits teams of similar ability but different geographic
regions
together to create matches that would not occur during regular season
play.
Every side plays two games, insuring that all matches are of the
highest
quality. Our scheduling committee prides itself on placing teams in
evenly
matched, competitive games. PONY Cup provides an excellent opportunity
for
clubs to test their skills in preparation for their season. The
referree corp
assembled will be top notch as always, with many of the highest level
refs in
the region calling the games.
Food and
Drink
will be provided to the participants at $5 per player.
Refreshments will be available to the
spectators at a nominal fee. That’s it! Erie
Rugby’s philosophy is to provide a
terrific tournament at a revenue
neutral cost.We feel the rewards of
hosting a day of friendly competition for our rugby players of the
future is
worth more than money!
Make
plans to attend the
PONY Cup tournament and find out why this corner of Pennsylvania is a
great
meeting place for Rugby.
Please
contact The Erie
Rugby Club to let us know the level of competition you desire. Deadline
for
registration will be Friday March 16, 2007.
